DRAW IN DRAWN OUT

Final exhibition of a year long drawing course

Leith School of Art, Edinburgh

2016

Tania Kovats, in 'The Drawing Book', writes:

“Experience and thought is taken in or inhaled into the lungs of consciousness, and then via drawing, exhaled onto the paper.”

These works were created in response to explorations in the unfolding, interruptions, folds edges and spaces between, which I experienced while drawing at the Wohl Pathology Museum, Edinburgh.  Tania's writing inspired me to attend more to what happens for me between the 'inhalation' and 'exhalation' of drawing. These works aim to share something of that.

Boundaries provided here by shape, container, or glass, are a nod to the museum environment I found inspiration in; but also, for me, reflect internal boundaries which could be limiting or enabling.
